Week 10: The Waltz

Ok so that goes to my friend Craig Boyle. He gave me the idea for the Waltz and I think it's genius considering it's a combat system based around a series of 3 inputs, it also has connotations of rhythm style and dance. Genius, I think.

Anyway I found a workaround for the huge moveset and got it down to (I think) 189 moves.

  1. Input Commands:  (on XBOX controller for the sake of example)
  2. X - Stabbing attack
  3. Y - Vertical Swings
  4. B - Horizontal Swings
  5. A - Jump
  6. LT - Dodge
  7.
  8. [XYB][XXY][XBX][YYB][XXX] So this is a series of 5 triplets. What a triplet does changes based on the triplet used before it. They are sorted into 7 sections. These are:
  9.
  10. Triple X [XXX]
  11.
  12. Triple Y [YYY]
  13.
  14. Triple B [BBB]
  15.
  16. Double X [XXY]
  17.          [YYX]
  18.          [YXY]
  19.          [XYY]
  20.          [YYB]
  21.          [YBY]
  22.          [BYY]
  23.
  24. Double Y [YYX]
  25.          [YXY]
  26.          [XYY]
  27.          [YYB]
  28.          [YBY]
  29.          [BYY]
  30.
  31. Double B [BBX]
  32.          [BXB]
  33.          [XBB]
  34.          [BBY]
  35.          [BYB]
  36.          [YBB]
  37.
  38. Button Mash [XYB]
  39.             [BYX]
  40.             [BXY]
  41.             [YXB]
  42.             [XBY]
  43.             [YBX]
So that's what the combo works off of. I think this a stroke of genius.
